Love In Action – Mission in Cambodia

Mission Statement

1 John 3:16-18

We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion- how can God’s love be in that person? Dear children let’s not merely say that we love each other. Let us show the truth by action.

L.I.A

Love In Action

This is our mission in Cambodia. To reach the lost, to help the hurting, feed the hungry and free those enslaved. By being an example of Christ’s love through serving. To shine the light of Christ throughout the country, so others may come to know Him. Being a daily example of what Love in Action looks like, not just in words but in service to those that desperately need Him.

L.I.A. Vision

Our vision for Cambodia is to empower the villagers, in a country that has seen so much death and war. Over two million estimated deaths during the Khmer Rouge Regime, executions, starvation, forced work camps. Many of the older generations are missing. For many Cambodians they grew up without any parent, grandparent, or elder to help and guide them. The result being a country that lives constantly in a survival mode.

Many children are sent to orphan camps, many of these camps have no desire to help the children or provide them with food and education. The children are abused, starved, lack basic hygiene and health care. The ones running the camps benefit greatly financially, usually by well meaning tourists  who take pity on the children and believe their donations will improve the children’s lives. This is not the case.

Our main goal here in the villages is to train up the parents, teach vocational skills so they can find employment. Plant crops for food and sale, giving the locals a sustainable income. Putting in wells that are desperately needed. English classes for young children. Schooling for older children whom are unable to attend proper school because they must work. Providing medical treatment to those that are unable to afford care.

We are building relationships through service, building trust and love with the people we serve. Our ultimate goal is to bring the love of Christ to the people, in a country that Christians only make up two percent of the population. We have a vision of bringing the lost to Christ and planting churches, training up locals to pastor the churches.

Cambodia needs change, Cambodia needs Christ. Change does not happen overnight and we are willing to put in the time and energy and resources that are required. In a country where children are sold in brothels, forced to work 12 hours a day peddling bracelets to tourists, with no protection. No one to help, God is the answer. There are tangible and real ways to impact and change this country and the mindsets, it all starts with love and service. The road is not easy, but we know that God will make a way and that in time, many lives will be transformed because of His overwhelming love for the people here.

Isaiah 58:10

“Feed the hungry and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as the noon.”
